Application Form | Summer School: Women in Transport 2026
The Women in Transport Summer School is an intensive two-week program designed to promote female participation in the fields of engineering, automotive, and transport. The 2026 edition will take place from Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 10, 2026, with accommodation provided from June 28 to July 11, 2026, to allow participants to arrive and depart in line with the program schedule.
The program is open to candidates who have obtained or are enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree. Due to the size and funding structure of the program, only the exact number of students that can be supported will be admitted. For the 2026 edition, the program will admit a maximum of 20 participants.
Applications will be open from February 2 to April 30, 2026. All applications will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee through a desk-based assessment of the academic curriculum and the motivation letter submitted during the application process. Applications will be reviewed and scored according to the program’s selection criteria, which include enrollment in or recent completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other STEM disciplines, and motivation and commitment to the themes of the Summer School. Further details on the selection criteria are available on the MUNER website.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a virtual one-on-one motivational interview, which will be held between May 11 and May 15, 2026. No specific preparation is required for the interview. A C1 level of English proficiency is strongly appreciated; however, an official language certificate is not mandatory, as English proficiency will be assessed during the interview.
Applicants who successfully pass the interview will receive an admission notice via email shortly after the interview phase, together with instructions for completing the payment process (900€ fee). Payments will be scheduled between May 19 and May 21, 2026. Should an admitted participant decline the offer, candidates on the waiting list will be contacted to fill any available places.
The 900€ fee includes:
- Accommodation in Modena for the full two-week program;
- Local transfers for scheduled activities and partner company visits; please note that urban transfers from the hotel to the department for lessons are at participants’ own expense – tickets can be purchased directly on the buses using a contactless card;
- Academic and cultural activities outlined in the final program (available by the end of May);
- A welcome kit and participation in the final round table and farewell aperitif;
- Medical insurance and compulsory university insurance
IMPORTANT: Applicants are strongly advised to carefully check visa requirements. If a visa is required to enter Italy, candidates are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the relevant authorities as soon as possible, for a date after the interview period (May 11–15, 2026). This will allow those who are admitted to proceed immediately with their visa application. Upon request, the School Secretariat can issue an official invitation letter signed by the Director of the School to support the visa application. We are aware that processing times can be long, and in previous editions some students were unfortunately unable to participate because they could not secure an appointment in time. The invitation letter may be requested by contacting the Secretariat via email (wit@motorvalleyuniversity.com) after receiving the admission confirmation following the interview.
An online information session will be held in on March 4th, 2026 at 5.30PM (Italy Time). More info here: Join the webinar.
For updates and further information, applicants are invited to consult the MUNER website.
The application to the 2026 edition of the Summer School will be available until April 30th, 2026
